The constraints.

 

1. The Y-axis is a line of longitude chosen as a central meridian. By convention this is an odd numbered line of longitude.
2. On the central meridian, the Y-value of a point is the arc of the meridian ellipse.
3. The projection is conformal. Ie. locally, angles are preserved by the projection.
