The Department of Water and Sanitation will host a two-day National Water and Sanitation from 18 – 19 February 2022 at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.

The Summit is expected to discuss a myriad of issues affecting the provision of water and sanitation services in the country. At the end of the Summit, Minister Senzo Mchunu will announce lasting solutions in partnership with stakeholders that will ensure water security and dignified sanitation for South Africans. Various Ministers of other Departments, are expected to attend the Summit and participate in thematic sessions affecting their areas of work.

Leading water and sanitation experts will also be in attendance to offer their expertise in this solution driven Summit.

The National Water and Sanitation Summit is a result of provincial working sessions that Minister Mchunu undertook since he became the Minister of Water and Sanitation in August 2021. Upon taking over the portfolio, Minister Mchunu visited all the provinces to understand service delivery challenges they are facing and to unlock bottlenecks hampering completion of projects.
