Definition

The task of sinking a borehole into the subsurface using a drilling rig.

Description

The process where a hole is bored into the subsurface with a drill for the purpose of constructing a hole for abstracting or observing groundwater.

Why is drilling important?

Drilling provides access into the subsurface for information on or use of the groundwater resource.
