Definition

The subsurface course a water molecule or solute would follow in a given groundwater velocity field.

Description

The path a water molecule or solute follows in the subsurface. Preferential flow is a special type of flow path.

Why are flow paths important?

Flow paths define the route for the movement of groundwater and contaminants in the subsurface.
