Definition

This is the amount of water that can be expected to be 'available' for use during any one year, at a specific assurance of supply, either from dams, rivers, or groundwater during any one year.

The amount of water available for use.

Why is available yield important?

When determining the available yield, an attempt is being made to guide water resource managers regarding the volume of water that is available for use over a period of time.
