Definition

Refers to water whose quality meets the requirements for a particular use.

Description

Water quality is such that it meets the requirements for a particular use.  There are five major groups of water users: domestic, agricultural, industrial, recreational and environmental users.

Why is fitness for use important?

This indicates that the water can be used for a particular use.
