Definition

Water that contains less than 1000 mg/l salts.

Description

Water that contains only minimal quantities of dissolved salts, especially sodium chloride, thus distinguishing it from sea water or brackish water.

Why is fresh water important?

Freshwater is necessary to sustain life.
