Definition

The study of the properties, circulation and distribution of groundwater.

Description

In South Africa the term geohydrology and hydrogeology are used interchangeably.  In theory hydrogeology is the study of geology from the perspective of its role and influence in hydrology, while geohydrology is the study of hydrology from the perspective of the influence on geology.

Why is geohydrology important?

Geohydrology allows the understanding, quantification and management of groundwater resources.
