Definition

The rapid flow of water along essentially unsaturated flow paths, water that infiltrates the subsurface and moves both vertically and laterally before discharging into other water bodies.

Description

That component of the runoff generation process where water flows at or near the surface without becoming part of regional groundwater system.

Why is interflow important?
