Definition

Streams where surface flow persists throughout the year.

Description

These streams are generally found in the wetter parts of the country where flow occurs more than 80% of the time.

Why are perennial streams important?

The discharge of groundwater into these rivers during drier periods could play an important role in sustaining stream flow.
