Definition

A group or cluster of boreholes in an area used collectively to supply sufficient groundwater to a user or users.

Description

A group of boreholes - usually closely spaced - that draw groundwater from a common aquifer system to supply sufficient quantities of groundwater.

Why are wellfields important?

Wellfields are used to abstract groundwater in sufficient quantities in a particular area.
