Definition

The interstitial pressure of water within a mass of soil or rock.

Description

Pressure exerted by fluid in the pore/void space of soil or rock.

Why is pore pressure important?

Abstracting groundwater can cause a drop in pore pressure which can lead to subsidence.

 

 

Pore Pressure
