attribute information

The GIS stores attribute information in a table linked to each feature in the coverage.
In this way, a point "knows" whether it is, for example, a borehole, a vertex in a river or part of the edge of a dam.

attribute information examples
type perennial, non-perennial
name Pienaars River
characteristics channel slope, width
classification stream order (scale-dependent)
