Executive summary.

This document is one of a series of reports on the Lake St. Lucia study. As such it is incomplete when read by itself.

The aim here is to explain, in fine detail, the technicalities behind the salinity and the ecosystem response models.

In addition, several simplistic analytic models were created and solved for the purpose of gaining insight, rather than numerically accurate results.

The results of running the models is also presented in finer detail than in the other reports.

• Technical notes on the design and inputs of the models.
• Simple Analytic models for insight and understanding. Often a complex numerical model is as opaque as nature herself. Thus some simple models were solved to guide the intuition.
