Borehole Testing

Top Previous Next

Definition

Borehole testing is the process whereby a borehole is subjected to pumping under controlled test conditions in order to determine the performance characteristics of a borehole.

Description

Borehole testing aims to determine the optimum rate at which a borehole should be pumped.  It differs from aquifer testing in that it considers the performance of the borehole and not the characteristics of the aquifer.

Why is borehole testing important?

The purpose is to determine the optimum rate at which a borehole should be pumped.
