Definition

The application of a mathematical model to represent a regional or site-specific groundwater contamination problem.

Description

A model that simulates the movement of a contaminant through the subsurface.

Why is a contaminant transport model important?

These models depict the movement of contamination with time and as such are important tools in the management and remediation of contaminated groundwater sites.
