Definition

The volume of harvest potential that can practically be exploited due to borehole yield constraints.

Description

This was an attempt to present the safe yield of an aquifer to water resource managers taking into account limitations resulting from borehole yields.

Why is exploitation potential important?

Exploitation potential gives an indication of how much groundwater can be abstracted in an area and has been used to quantify groundwater resources in South Africa.
