Definition

An aquifer in which groundwater moves through the original interstices of the geological formation.

Description

Aquifers in which water moves through the integranular spaces formed at the same time as the geological formation.

Why is a primary aquifer important?

Primary aquifers can yield appreciable quantities of groundwater, but need to be managed because of their vulnerable nature.
