COMPLETED STUDY- GUIDELINE FOR THE MINING SECTOR IN SOUTH AFRICA (2011)
The guideline was published in 2011 by the Directorate: Water Use Efficiency. The overall purpose of the Guideline is to provide assistance to both Departmental and Mining Sector personnel in the assessment, planning and management of WC/WDM. The Guideline highlights the linkages between the implementation of WC/WDM measures and best practice measures and unpacks the overall process of WC/WDM implementation in a mine. The guideline also provides guidance on the content of a WC/WDM plan which can either be produced as a standalone document or be included in an Integrated Water and Waste Management Plan (IWWMP).
BENCHMARKS FOR WATER CONSERVATION AND WATER DEMAND MANAGEMENT (WC/WDM) IN THE MINING SECTOR (WC/WDM BENCHMARKS REPORT)
The guideline was published in 2016 by the Directorate: Water Use Efficiency in Collaboration with Mineral Council of South Africa. These commodity-based national water use efficiency (WUE) benchmarks are used to guide the acceptable levels of water usage by the mining industry, and consequently to drive the improvement in water use efficiency through effective implementation of water conservation measures and strategies within the mining operations. This report provides a set of national water use efficiency benchmarks that are based on a very detailed analysis of the latest and most up-to-date available data on actual current specific water use data within the South African mining industry.
GUIDELINE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF WATER CONSERVATION AND WATER DEMAND MANAGEMENT PLANS FOR THE MINING SECTOR.
