WHY DO WE PLANT TREES

  • Trees provide shade for humans, houses, animals, birds, and smaller trees or shrubs and reduce evaporation of water from soil by the sun

  • Trees can create a pleasant and beautiful environment

  • Trees help to conserve energy

  • Trees help to reduce air pollution

  • Trees protect the soil and water

  • Trees can create wildlife habitats

  • Trees are necessary for wind reduction and control

  • The roots of trees help bind the soil and reduce soil erosion

  • Trees are grown to produce timber for future use such as furniture, building material, poles and paper

  • Trees supply oxygen that we breathe and they take in carbon dioxide which we do not need

  • Trees provide food for domestic animals (goats, cows, donkeys) and wild animals (giraffes, impalas, elephants, etc). Humans also eat fruits from the trees

  • Trees are used for firewood which is used for cooking and heating in winter

  • Many indigenous trees are used as medicine to cure diseases.
