Definition

A catchment management strategy is a framework for water resources management in a Water Management Area.

Description

A CMS, developed by a Catchment Management Agency, is statutory document which provides the vision, and the strategic actions to address water resource management issues, based on the best available information. The framework for the CMS is given by the National Water Resources Strategy.

Why is the Catchment Management Strategy important?

A Catchment Management Strategy is required for managing water at regional level.
