Definition

A borehole used to measure the response of the groundwater system to an aquifer test.

Description

A borehole drilled at a selected location for the purpose of observing parameters such as water levels, pressure changes and water quality during aquifer tests.  They can later be used for groundwater monitoring.

Why is an observation borehole important?

An observation borehole provide access to measure  groundwater response to abstraction at selected localities.
