REMP Rivers database

The original Rivers database is no longer operational.

Please use the Freshwater Biodiversity Information System (FBIS) for data queries and data capture. The database includes the legacy SASS data from the Rivers database, plus new data entered since 2015.
FBIS is an open-access, online platform for serving, hosting, analysing, visualising and sharing freshwater biodiversity data in South Africa. Information includes species occurrence, abundance and associated habitat parameters, for freshwater algae, invertebrates and fish. Additional data are provided from scientific papers, reports and university theses.

A snapshot of the Rivers database is available as it was in late 2015, in the form of a collection of spreadsheet files containing the results of different queries to the database. Note that the user is responsible for reconciling archival descriptions with new taxonomic conventions: Please read the disclaimer files that are included in this zip file.
