ALL TOWNS RECONCILIATION STRATEGIES FOR THE NORTHERN PLANNING REGION

STUDY APPROACH

The All Towns Reconciliation Strategies for the Northern (also Central, Eastern and Southern) Planning Region recommended that a Strategies Steering Committee(s) (SSC) be established, with the monitoring and implementation functions, as shown in the figure below, which summarises the relationships and functions required for implementing the Reconciliation Strategies. For the SSC to achieve its mandate, support is required from the Administration and Technical Support Group which includes the Professional Services Provider (PSP).

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

Stakeholder engagement, underpinned by effective technical and administrative support, is key to the successful implementation of the All Towns Reconciliation Strategies. Communication, sharing of information and engagement between members of the DWS, SSCs and PSP structures are vital.

The logistics and arrangements of the Strategies Steering Committee and other related meetings will be undertaken. Invitations will be distributed to members together with a response sheet, an agenda as well as the relevant documents to be discussed at the meetings. Minutes of meetings will be distributed to members within two weeks of each meeting.

Stakeholders will be informed of the study and its progress through the SSC meetings. Several other sectors of stakeholders (agriculture, industry, local government, domestic users) will be kept informed and engaged in the study. The following activities are planned to keep stakeholders informed:

  • Background Information Documents: Background Information Documents will be compiled and distributed to all stakeholders to keep them abreast of the progress made with the maintenance and implementation of the Strategies.
  • Media releases will be distributed to the media in the Strategies (Study) Area to inform readers and listeners of the maintenance and implementation of the strategy
  • Access to information: The DWS project web site will publish all project documents to stakeholders to review and comment on.
