STEERING COMMITTEE
One of the recommendations of the All Towns Reconciliation Strategies study was that Strategies Steering Committees (SSCs) should be formed per Province,
with a clearly defined mandate and scope of work.
The objectives of the SSCs are:
- to ensure and monitor implementation of the recommendations of the All Towns Reconciliation Strategies,
- to update the Strategies to ensure that they remain relevant, and
- to ensure that the Strategies, their recommendations and progress with the implementation are appropriately communicated to all stakeholders.
The Strategies Steering Committees (SSCs) relevant to the All Towns Reconciliation Strategies for the Northern Planning Region were established for the
Limpopo and North West Provinces. The SSC for North West Province was established for the Northern Planning Region's All Towns study and received support
from the Central Planning Region study relevant to the North West part of the Central Planning Region Study Area. The SSC for Mpumalanga Province was
established for the Eastern Planning Region's All Towns study and received support from the Northern Planning Region study relevant to the Mpumalanga
part of the Northern Planning Region Study Area. The Strategies Steering Committees include key stakeholders involved in water resources management,
including organised agriculture, mine/ industries, Water Boards, relevant District and Local Municipalities, and the DWS regional and national offices.
