Overview

The Directorate: Climate Change Analysis (D: CCA) develops strategies, plans, guidelines and water resource planning tools to guide effective response to climate change while minimizing its adverse impacts on the water and sanitation sector. The functions of D: CCA amongst others include, alignment of climate change analysis strategy with national and international priorities, coordination and informing of policy objectives, conducting of vulnerability assessments and related impacts on water resources due to climate change as well as analysis and development of adaptation and response management measures.


The D: CCA has five sub-directorates, namely, Special Support, Climate Change Analysis North, Climate Change Analysis Central, Climate Change Analysis East and Climate Change Analysis South.
  • Sub-directorate: Special Support (SS)

  • Aim: To provide specialist support on climate change and water resource planning and management.

    Functions

    1. The undertaking of water related climate change studies on a national scale.
    2. The provision of specialist input on climate change vulnerability and impact studies.
    3. The development of capacity for the water sector on climate change.
    4. The provision of specialist input on climate change policy and strategy development.
  • Sub-directorates: Climate Change Analysis North, Central, East and South

  • Aim: To perform climate change risk and vulnerability assessments in the respective Planning Areas.

    Functions

    1. The undertaking of climate change risk and vulnerability assessments on water resources.
    2. The development and analysis of adaptation and response management measures on water resources.
    3. Identify, research needs and emerging issues on climate change and water resource planning and management.
    4. The management of interfaces with other projects.
