Overview

The Directorate: Water Resource Development Planning (D: WRDP) identifies, develops and evaluates water resource management options / projects to meet future water requirements and for multi-disciplinary project planning, including the development of applicable procedures and guidelines. This includes economic appraisal of options as well as environmental impact assessments of the recommended development options to obtain the required authorizations for the implementation of projects.

The D: WRDP comprises of four sub-directorates, delineated in terms of Planning Areas, i.e., North, Central, East and South.

Aim: To develop long-term national strategic water resource management options for future water requirements.

Functions

  • Water resource development planning.
  • Analysis of national strategic options to meet future water requirements.
  • Review of CMAs proposals to meet future water requirements.
  • Assistance and capacity building to CMAs in terms of options analysis.
