Bursary holders must join the Learning Academy as graduate Trainees for a minimum of three (3) years, where they will be exposed to the workplace in order to register professionally with the respective professional body where applicable.
Graduate Trainee
The graduate trainee must:
Be a on a fixed term contract with Career Management.

Be available for and participate in all activities and experiences as required by the DWS.
Comply with workplace policies and procedures.

Complete any timesheets or written reports as required by the DWS to record progress of the graduate trainee and progress in the graduate trainee-mentor relationship.
Enter into an agreement with a mentor as arranged by Career Management.
Meet with the mentor and discuss his or her experience on the training programme.
Take full advantage of the training and development opportunities available to him/her.
Demonstrate willingness to participate through work experience.
Keep a record of his/her experience as specified by Career Management (e.g.: portfolio and log book).
Be willing to learn from the mentor and be an active learner who believes in the concept of lifelong learning.
Take responsibility for his or her own self-development and show creativity in suggesting other development areas to the mentor.
Make an effort to become a competent communicator with the ability to communicate their ideas, concerns and problems with the mentor.
Make an effort to acquire well-developed listening skills in order to understand colleagues and co-workers.
Take the initiative and become oriented to problem solving and to solutions that are based on
a win-win principles.
