Spatial Information
Purpose
Provide Quality Spatial data, information and services in line with Chapter 14 requirements of Chapter 14 of the National Water Act, Act 36 of 1998. Spatial and Land Information Management should provide integrated spatially related water information services to all identified clients and stakeholders, develop and maintain national spatial information and monitoring systems and provide spatially related water intelligence / insight and related products and applications.
Functions
Spatial and Land Information Management is responsible for:
Providing knowledge & expertise to support all levels of government and all stakeholders in understanding and solving critical spatial information problems
Spatial and water related information management
Establishing and managing appropriate national spatial and water related information systems
Establishing & maintaining stakeholder relationships & institutional cooperation in information management
Building and maintaining sustainable organizational capacity
Spatial and Land Information Management is divided into a number of functional areas:
Geographic Information and Archiving: Manage and Co-ordinate Geo-spatial information and provide cartographic services
Remote Sensing and Training: Provide aerial photography / imaging, aerial survey mapping and training
Survey Services: Provide Hydrographical, topographical, engineering and geodetic data
Land Management: Design, create and provide Property Information and all land surveys
Spatial and Land Information Management work in close conjunction with DWS regional offices based at:

Midmar dam
Port Elizabeth
Bloemfontein
Polokwane
Nelspruit
