The Gauteng, North West and Ghaap Plateau Dolomite Units Map is the outcome of a
three-year consultative process, led by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS).
It is a consolidated map compiled from available data on dolomite (desktop) and
prepared for better management of water resources of this specific rock type
aquifer. Together with this map a Dolomite hydrogeological compartment
explanation booklet was developed.

This Dolomite Guideline booklet aims to give a short and clear summary of the
available guideline documents dealing with development on karst dolomite land in
South Africa. This booklet is useful for engineers, land developers and
groundwater practitioners who are dealing with working in the dolomite rock type
